New this year:

We added a second choice class to our registration form. If you have some flexibility in your schedule, it will make it easier to find a group that is most beneficial and enjoyable for you.

Priority placement is given to our currently enrolled and returning students. Prompt registration is highly encouraged.

New students are welcome to try a single drop-in class ($50), and if they decide to continue, this fee will be applied toward their tuition. Please note that priority placement is given to our currently enrolled and returning students.

Any class may be canceled due to low enrollment. In this case, registered students will be offered a spot in a different age-appropriate class.

Please see the short descriptions of the classes below. Do not hesitate to contact us before registering with any questions about our program or if you are not sure which class suits your child best.

Classes for children 5-9
Art Explorers

5-8 years old

class is not offered this session

This 2-hr class focuses on developing observational, technical, and fine motor skills. Students work with a variety of art mediums and craft materials while being encouraged to explore, experiment, and create. In this class, we start with a project-based format: kids will be offered specific subjects and materials. This structure allows us to expose kids to techniques and subjects they may not have thought of before. At the same time, we will be gently introducing new students to our method: idea--sketch--material/technique--execution.

Our young students are allowed a longer break (approximately 20min) in the middle of our 2-hr class. This is a time for a light snack and play. There is plenty to do on our wooded playground, which encourages movement and socialization.

Young Artists

Sundays 9:30 - 11:30 AM

6-8 years old

..spots available 4

This class is the next step for our “rising” 6-year-old Art Explorers and a comfortable start for new students, ages 7-8.  We will focus on learning the fundamental elements of design and composition by mastering various techniques and materials. Students are encouraged to make each project into their unique creation and will learn how to bring their ideas to life independently. They will have more freedom with art supplies, selecting what they want to work with, and gaining more responsibility for taking care of art materials. One of our goals is to learn not to rush through the steps and to understand the importance of details and quality over quantity. Most of our projects will take 2-4 weeks to complete.

Students will have a 15-20 min. snack/play break in the middle of this 2-hr class.

Classes for children 9-12

Junior Portfolio

..spots available 1

Sundays 12:30 - 2:30 PM

10-12 years old

Our learning process is largely based on developing students’ critical thinking and their ability to identify and correct mistakes. It's not as dramatic as one might think, but there ARE mistakes in art, and “hunting” them (with the teacher’s assistance) can be great fun as we learn more about this approach. Our students also learn to support one another by giving their peers positive feedback and encouragement. This 2 hr class is suitable for 10-12-year-old children and experienced 9-year-old Sirin students who can work independently. Students will work on individual projects and may choose the subject, genre, and medium that suits their area of interest. Emphasis is placed on creative exploration and producing quality art pieces.

This class introduces students to the essential elements and principles of art through thoughtful observation, hands-on exploration, and plenty of creative experimentation.

Whether we paint, draw, sculpt, or build a puppet, every project becomes an opportunity to tell a story. Along the way, students discover the work of great artists, learn to ask questions, solve creative problems, and express their own ideas with growing confidence.
