SIRIN Art Studio’s mission is to provide students with personalized lessons which encourage individual creativity and critical thinking while consistently building technical and observational skills. Creating a safe and fun environment in which students can feel comfortable expressing their ideas, making mistakes, and growing as both artists and as individuals is a top priority at our space.  Here, students can find inspiration, learn art history through a diverse curriculum, and have hands-on guidance from a professional artist. Techniques covered include drawing, painting, sculpting, mask and puppet making, 3D construction and more. No matter their skill level or aspirations, students will be encouraged to discover their own love for art.

Meet Inna

Inna Slutskaya is a classically trained artist and passionate educator. Originally from Kharkov, Ukraine, Inna has lived and worked in America for almost 20 years. Her childhood love for art was fostered by her mother, a medical doctor, and her first art teacher Sergej Werbuk, a wonderful artist and stage designer. Their guidance led her to pursue a serious and well-rounded art education, first through a highly competitive fine arts secondary school and then, at Kharkov State Art College in Ukraine where she obtained her bachelors degree in stage design. She later received a Masters of Fine Arts degree from St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy in Russia. All the while, she continued producing original artwork and teaching lessons. Her deep understanding and love for theatre greatly influenced her artistic pursuits as well as her appreciation of world cultures and folk art. While her style continues to grow and evolve, Inna’s passion for revealing the beauty and fantasy in the world, and in ourselves, remains a constant indicative feature of her work.

After moving to the United States, Inna transformed her love for teaching art into a full-time career and has worked in a variety of professional settings over the years. Her most recent position was at Indian Creek School in Crownsville, MD, where she worked as an art teacher for almost 10 years. Eventually her dream of opening her own teaching studio came into fruition, attracting students seeking in-depth continuous art instruction. Now, as the director of her own studio, Inna uses her years of experience to structure unique classes and programs under which her student’s abilities are able to truly flourish.

What is Sirin?

Inna named her studio “Sirin” after a mythological creature - a bird with a woman’s head and chest - who is a powerful figure in Russian folklore and appears in various forms in legends from around the world. Although of complicated origins, the Sirin became a sign of good fortune as she evolved into the bird of paradise. Since her childhood, Inna has been fascinated by the duality of mythological creatures, and so it was only fitting for her to choose the majestic Sirin bird as the beautiful symbol and guardian of her art studio.
