Secrets of the Niche
Some treasures need a special place.
In this camp, young artists will discover hidden spaces in art—niches, nooks, and alcoves—special places meant to protect and elevate something important. We’ll learn how artists across history and cultures have created spaces for deities, treasures, and meaningful objects, and how niches are used in drawing and painting to frame and elevate their significance.
Campers will sketch, paint, and build their own niches and hidden-away spaces through sculpture, drawing, and mixed media.
Our traditional Art Museum visit will become an art treasure hunt, as we search for hidden spaces in paintings, sculptures, and buildings, gathering inspiration for our own creations along the way.
As always, our program also includes work and playtime at Kinder Farm Park and in our own cozy backyard playground. We’ll beat the woes of hot Maryland weather with sprinkler fun and a waterslide!
Camp session is 5 days long (Monday-Friday), 9 AM - 3 PM
Cost: $450*
